AAP Against Punjab

AAP’s hypocrisy on the Farm Laws

While the AAP government in Delhi claims to stand against the farm laws, it has quietly notified one of the three laws, the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Ordinance 2020 on 23rd November 2020.

This shows that the AAP led government in Delhi has only disregard for the farmers’ voices across the country.

Anti-Women AAP

In addition to various cases of female harassment in Delhi by AAP MLAs such as Sandeep Kumar from Sultanpur Majra, Delhi who was accused of raping a woman in 2015 181 , the AAP has been continuously embroiled with anti-women activities even across Punjab.

  • In 2016, AAP MLA from Bijwasan, Punjab Colonel Devinder Sehrawat claimed he had received “disturbing reports” of women being “exploited” in Punjab with promises of election tickets from the party

Power Scarcity

The Kejriwal led AAP has been operating as a dictatorial unit in Delhi. Disciples in Punjab take orders from these masters in Delhi and execute them in Punjab.

However, the truth of the matter is that AAP hardly cares about Punjab or Punjabi’s welfare, always secondary to their prized Delhi. This was recently observed post Kejriwal’s announcement of 300 units of free power for Punjab and the horrendous politics that ensued.

Politicizing Kotkapura and Behbal Khan Issue

While the Aam Aadmi Party pretends to be the beacon of truth and transparency in Punjab politics, it has always played the politics of deception. This shows that AAP, clearly has a political agenda and is more than willing to accept bureaucrats who bend rules to pursue politics.

Water Management

AAP has been consistent in its hypocrisy against the people of Punjab, not just in matters of agriculture and power, but even with respect to water sharing in the state.

  • AAP continues to file submissions in court supporting Haryana’s cause for construction of Sutlej Yamuna Link canal, at the expense of Punjab’s future. It is evident that Arvind Kejriwal wants to prioritize the cause of his native state Haryana.

The Delhi Communal Riots

AAP’s undemocratic and radicalized elements are always on the lookout to flare up tensions in the social realm to suit their political agenda. The weight to this statement comes from AAP’s shortcomings in the recent Delhi Riots in 2020.

  • Riots broke out in northeast Delhi on February 24 2020 after clashes between citizenship law supporters and protesters spiralled out of control. This left at least 53 people dead and around 200 injured.

Supporting Secessionist Khalistani Agenda

AAP is a party that can go to any extreme, to maintain their political position. The party has on several occasions found to be involved in Khalistani agenda.

  • Two active Khalistani terror operatives arrested from Navanshahar and Hoshiarpur districts of Punjab, were actively working for AAP during the 2017 assembly elections.

AAP’s Communal Agenda

AAP has not stopped its anti-Punjabiyat politics since its advent in Punjab. Even before its first election in Punjab in 2017, Delhi’s AAP legislator Naresh Yadav was found fomenting communal tensions in 2016. He committed a sacrilege on Quran in Punjab’s Muslim-dominated town of Malerekotla.

Subservient Punjab under AAP

AAP has no ideological vision for the welfare of its constituents. The party runs around the personality cult and megalomania of Arvind Kejriwal. Despite making tall promises, it has completely ignored the plight of the Punjabis.

AAP’s Poor Performance in Delhi

The industrial users in Delhi have been asked to pay 6.8% more towards electricity charges in 2020-21, than what they did in FY 2019-20.

Water Management & Environment

Kejriwal’s government in June 2021 faced flak for a 48 Hour water crisis in Delhi, because of lack of efficient water management on part of the AAP led government.

  • Despite making big claims about environmental sustainability, the AAP led government in Delhi chopped off 17,000 trees. This was done in complete denial of the air pollution crisis in Delhi.

Covid Mismanagement

Not only Oxygen, Delhi also suffered from the politics of ‘Ignorance’ practised by AAP. From 2015-19, AAP didn’t make any new Hospitals and this became one of the primary reasons for overcrowding at the already contracted hospital infrastructure in Delhi.

Rampant Unemployment

A CMIE report in May 2021 revealed that the unemployment rate in Delhi was an abysmal 45.6%.

Amid the infrastructural development, there was also a 45% shortage of teachers in Delhi’s government schools till 2020.

Featuring second on a list of five worst performing cities, Delhi’s figures for the ‘availability of public transport’ was 1,688.50 per lakh population (PLP).

Economic Downfall

Punjab has amassed huge outstanding liabilities of nearly 2.47 Lakh Crore, with the debt to GSDP ratio skyrocketing to 38.7% of the GDP in 2021.

Stubble Burning

AAP wants criminal cases to be filed in large numbers against the hapless farmers of Punjab for stubble burning. AAP goes to every court targeting Punjab without acknowledging the distress of Punjab farmers. They have no consideration or knowledge of the people of Punjab.
